CT 7.1.20 Letter to Family

Our team and I hope this email finds you safe and healthy.

I have heard from many of you regarding frustrations with our phones and want to apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing. Please know we are actively working to get the issues resolved and will have the vendor out here Monday morning at 9am to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue. With that being said, please be aware that our phones are expected to be down for a period of time for them to find the problem. During this time, it will be best to reach us via email and we will do our best to respond in a timely manner.

Please remember that outdoor visits must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff.  The specific guidelines and details regarding perimeter visits can be found on our website and Facebook page. If these restrictions pose issues for you please keep in mind that we continue to offer other visitation alternatives like Facetime, Skype and window visits. You can schedule a visit by calling 860-489-1008 or emailing us at recreation@valeriemanorhcc.com.

We are happy to report that we are still COVID free following our second round of testing! We will conduct another round this week, to include any new admissions during the last week, and are hopeful that we will remain free of the virus. Some of our residents and families have been inquiring about increasing time outdoors so we are actively trying to get people out of their rooms while maintaining the appropriate safety measures. As we continue to maintain a COVID-free status, we will hopefully be able to reduce restrictions under the guidance of the CDC and CT Department of Public Health.

Following Governor Lamont’s order for nursing home workers to be regularly tested for the coronavirus disease, we will be completing our third round of employee testing this week. All employee results received thus far have returned as negative and we are hopeful to continue this trend. Through ongoing testing we are hopeful to keep all our residents and employees safe while at Valerie Manor.

Attached are two letters from the State Long-Term Care Ombudsman regarding facility staffing levels. Please let me know if you have any questions about these and don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions regarding our specific staffing levels. We review our staffing on a daily basis to ensure we have adequate staff to maintain our high care standards.

As a reminder, our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8th. We encourage any residents and family members to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!
