Notice From CT DPH Long-Term Care Ombudsman Regarding COVID-19

Notice From CT DPH Long-Term Care Ombudsman Regarding COVID-19

Dear Family Members and Responsible Parties,

Below is a notice from the Connecticut Department of Public Health’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman regarding new measures being taken to protect the health and safety of nursing home residents across Connecticut.

As you will see, the state has determined that more extreme precautions must be taken to prevent and delay further spread of COVID-19 to keep all residents and staff safe. The state will now designate specific nursing homes for residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 and those who have not.

Here is what it means for you and your families:

  • Current residents at nursing homes ho have tested positive for COVID-19. These residents will be transferred to a COVID-19 designated center, at the discretion of the state. This will be for an undetermined amount of time, until the state no longer deems this an emergency. We will do everything we can to have your loved one re-admitted to our center as soon as possible.
  • Current residents at other nursing homes who have tested negative for COVID-19 or are not showing symptoms. These residents will remain at their current centers.

If you or your loved one need to move to another room or nursing home, a team member from your nursing home will contact you directly. As you will see in the attached letter, the state has also set up Zoom meetings to provide more information. You can also contact the Long-Term Care Ombudsman’s office at: 860-424-5200, or toll-free 1-866-388-1888.

We understand that these are incredibly difficult times. We want to assure you that there is no greater priority for us than the care of our residents. We are also committed to providing you with as many updates as possible to keep you informed of what is happening at our centers.

Thank you again for your understanding. We are so thankful for our incredible staff and for you.
