Update from Administrator – April 6, 2021

May 6, 2021

Dear Friends and Families of Valerie Manor,

This week, we celebrate National Nurses Week, which begins on May 6th each year since 1974 and ends on May 12th, in honor of Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

Next week, we begin celebrating National Skilled Nursing Care Week (formerly National Nursing Home Week). This year’s theme is “Together Through the Seasons.” NSNCW begins on Sunday, May 9, Mother’s Day and runs through May 15. The theme will honor the collaborative commitment of our staff in providing compassionate care to your loved ones during this unprecedented time. It also allows us to celebrate the seasons both our staff, and residents, missed during the heart of the pandemic.

Over the past year, despite the challenges of the pandemic, our team has shown an incredible and steadfast commitment to providing quality care and ensuring the safety of their residents…and for that I am extremely grateful and proud…

Updates for Recreation / Activities / Dining

  • We are delighted to be back in full swing for small, socially distanced group activities and Social Dining in our dining areas should the resident choose to attend.
  • Nursing home week Schedule… Keep Watch on FaceBook for Pictures!
    • Monday: “In remembrance” – A tribute to those loved and lost, and a special staff recognition and dedication ceremony.
    • Tuesday: Celebrate Spring with Taco Tuesday and activities.
    • Wednesday: Celebrate Summer with July 4th BBQ and the stars and stripes.
    • Thursday: Celebrate Fall with Tailgate party and Celebrating Sports.
    • Friday: Celebrate winter with a Holiday party and visit from Santa?

Updates for Visitation

  • Our Covid Status in facility remains Zero (0) for both Staff and Residents…
  • A revised guideline from CMS came out that we are now implementing.
    • Residents and visitors who are fully vaccinated may visit without social distancing and masks if alone in the resident’s room or alone in a designated area.
    • Visitors are also now permitted to eat with loved one IF you and your loved one are both fully vaccinated and in the outdoor courtyards, room alone or alone in a designated visiting area. If eating, please confirm with Nursing staff that the food provided is withing the residents diet and consistency needs…
  • We always offer visitations using our technology (iPads, tablets, calls, etc.) and when we can, window visits and outside visits.

Vaccination Update

  • As we have said before, although not mandatory, we continue to encourage any employee who has not been vaccinated to obtain one. Currently, they may obtain one at a community clinic. We are also working with our state and pharmacy to do “catch-up” clinics to assist our team and new residents in obtaining the vaccine right here in our center.
  • Fully vaccinated staff are no longer required to be tested each week, unless an outbreak is detected, or the local county’s positivity number is very high. BUT Unvaccinated staff still must be tested weekly.

We will notify you if we need to re initiate weekly family updates via phone if covid activities in our facility change, but for now please follow us on facebook and our family letter or reach out directly if you have any questions…

We hope you have a great week and look forward to seeing you!!
