Update from Administrator – December 23, 2021

Covid Status Updates for Wednesday 12/23/21:

After a very trying month, we have some holiday celebrations this week to bring some holiday cheer to our residents and staff…this included special meals, season of giving, staff recognition, and even a visit from Santa Himself!

I am happy to provide some updates from our last communication on 12/16. Our Healthcare Partners from Griffin Health performed facility wide testing again this week and resulted in Zero New Positive Cases. With our most recent recoveries, we now have 0 (ZERO) Active Covid resident. This makes it Two Consecutive weeks without any new positive Cases. This is very encouraging news coming into the holidays. In addition, after 12 rounds of testing, as of today all staff continue to be Negative from any internal exposure from the original outbreak. We will continue to test Staff over the holiday season in an abundance of caution

With the highly infectious Omicron Variant, Statewide positivity up to 9%, and increased hospitalizations…we are not out of the woods. We continue to be vigilant about protecting loved ones and ensure proper social distancing, masking, and infection prevention protocols are followed, even outside our center. The Community at large is seeing a surge in cases so PLEASE be extra diligent this holiday season. If you have exposure, please do not risk coming into a population of high risk like ours until you are clear…we do not want another community based outbreak and we want to keep everyone safe.

Center Visits

Visitation remains open per order from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, following the guidance and recommendations of the CDC/DPH. While your vaccination is not required for visitation, we continue to strongly encourage vaccination for everyone and booster shots for those now eligible. And Please remember…The Vaccine is highly effective against severe symptoms and death, but it is not guaranteed that you still can’t spread it without symptoms. All visitors are required to complete our COVID screening protocol, including temperature check and our questionnaire, and to wear a mask while in the center. We further ask that you proceed directly to your loved one’s room for your visit and not wander the center, to further reduce any potential exposure. We also strongly encourage you to follow all door signage guidelines for proper PPE while entering and exiting residents’ rooms and keep visits and contacts within the facility limited. We can provide all required PPE on site.

Vaccine, Booster, and FLU Updates

We continue our Booster Clinic. Our Goal is to have all Boosters to those residents that have consented be given the booster by 12/15. 94% of our residents are fully vaccinated and of those approximately 90% now have received boosters as of today. We have also started our Flu shots for those who chose to get one.

Since our center has been cleared of the outbreak, we will not be continuing weekly updates, but please feel free to reach out with any questions.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday season.
