Update from Administrator – December 6, 2021

Hello Family and Friends of Valerie Manor

Covid Status Updates for Monday12/6/21: When the initial outbreak began on 11/23, we identified the potentially exposed residents from the initial community-based exposure in conjunction with State Department of Epidemiology. It was determined that potentially 19 had been indirectly exposed to the community based covid positive. As of Sunday, 5 from the initial outbreak have been fully covid recovered. This means that they can no longer be contagious, and we are down to 10 Active Covid residents close to the end of their covid positive infections stage in the Isolation Unit. As of today, an additional 4 are close to full covid recovery by 12/8.

State Epidemiology was on site to aid during the outbreak. The representative observed and guided our team and residents. Observations from State Epidemiology confirmed that our staff is following proper CDC guidelines and Cohorting procedures to help mitigate the spread of the positive/exposed to unexposed units. The State expressed confidence in our protocols through her observations and staff interviews and further confirmed this as stemming from the community exposure vs any breach of infection prevention protocols at our facility.

In addition, after six rounds of testing, as of today all staff continue to be Negative. We increase testing of Staff to ensure the outbreak is not initiating or worsening from our team. As of today it remains evident that the positives are from the initial community based exposure.

Group activities, Group Rehab Gym, and Community Dining remain paused until we have gone 14 days with no new positive cases. Activities are occurring virtual and one on one in room to maintain spirits and keep our residents active. Rehab is occurring in room as well to continue with our residents healing process.

We continue to be vigilant about protecting our loved ones and ensure proper social distancing, masking, and infection prevention protocols are followed, even outside our center.

Center Visits

Visitation remains open per order from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, following the guidance and recommendations of the CDC/DPH. While your vaccination is not required for visitation, we continue to strongly encourage vaccination for everyone and booster shots for those now eligible. All visitors are required to complete our COVID screening protocol, including temperature check and our questionnaire, and to wear a mask while in the center. We further ask that you proceed directly to your loved one’s room for your visit and not wander the center, to further reduce any potential exposure. We also strongly encourage you to follow all door signage guidelines for proper PPE while entering and exiting residents’ rooms and keep visits and contacts within the facility limited. We can provide all required PPE on site.

Vaccine, Booster, and FLU Updates

We continue our Booster Clinic. Our Goal is to have all Boosters to those residents that have consented be given the booster by 12/15. 94% of our residents are fully vaccinated and of those approximately 80% now have received boosters as of today. We have also started our Flu shots for those who chose to get one.

We will continue to update you on our center’s status. Our team continues to work tirelessly to help keep everyone as safe as possible during this time.

Thank you.
