Update from Administrator – March 23, 2021

March 23, 2021

Good Afternoon Friends & Families of Valerie Manor,

We hope this communication finds you safe and healthy as we start turning the corner into spring!

Our facility COVID report for this week: We have ZERO (0) positive residents and ZERO (0) positive Staff currently. Our Partners at Griffin Health continue to test staff weekly, and we monitor all residents for signs of covid while we remain in NON-Breakout status per DPH Guidelines.

As a reminder, we are open for visitors currently. While outdoor is preferred, indoor visits can be scheduled through our recreation department. We have two lovely visitation areas to use by appointment. DPH guidelines direct us to maintain minimal nursing unit exposure, which is why we have the indoor visitor areas, but if your loved one is fully vaccinated, not on observation status, and has a private room, escorted in-room visits can be arranged. And of course, compassionate care visits are always available.

In addition, our barber and beauty salon is open for appointments, we continue to have small group activities available, and we are in preparation for opening community dining to our vaccinated residents.

Speaking of Vaccinations…Finally, our partners at Griffin Health will be setting up another vaccination “Catch Up” clinic for our residents and staff who are either new to our community or have had a change of heart with the vaccine. We will be providing the Johnson and Johnson one shot vaccine OR the second dose of Pfizer vaccine. We are encouraging all residents and staff to choose vaccination…As we encourage all of you to consider vaccination as well… As DPH adjusts to the new normal, there is clear trending that the state, and our nation, may consider those that are vaccinated to potentially have increased liberties with guidelines as we move forward which will only help our journey back…

REMINDER: Our Family call will be held on Thursdays at 2pm.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of management, Tracy the Director of Recreation, Caprice our Director of Nursing or myself at 860.489.1008.

Now go out, stay safe, and enjoy some sunshine! Have a wonderful week.
