Update from Administrator – July 29, 2022

Hello Friends and Family of Valerie Manor,

Hope you are all staying cool during the first round of the heatwave. Here are some Updates…

Connecticut positivity rates for Covid are now almost 12% and our specific community positivity rate remains elevated. Unfortunately, Covid is on the rise with the new BA.5 Variant… After a long stretch of zero positive residents in the facility, we have identified one (1) positive resident this afternoon. We are communicating with and working in conjunction with DPH and Connecticut Epidemiology to control and contain. We will continue Facility wide resident and staff testing to help identify and control the spread. Per DPH, we will continue with usual visitation, but for those visiting a Covid Positive resident there will be additional measures in place to help maintain the core principles of prevention and protection. Guidance will be provided upon check in to the facility.

A few Family notes…
• If you are going to have an out trip with a loved one, be sure to keep cold beverages available and be sure all are dressed appropriately for the weather. The heat can sneak up on you and it is important to stay cool and Hydrated
• We make every effort to Make our facility a Home, but please be reminded that we are a healthcare facility. Distractions/interruptions during care can create issues. When our nurses are providing care, passing out/counting medications at the med cart, and/or charting…please note that they will help you as soon as they are done. If a nurse is busy with another resident, please either come back later or find a nursing supervisor or manager to help with your needs.

On a Positive note, our hiring campaign continues to go well…We Continue to hire great new LPNs, RNs, CNAs, Laundry, Dietary and support staff. Our total New Hires since march 15,2002 is 47 staff hired. Although not at our Staffing goals yet, We are working hard with our current staff, DPH, and Agency help as we keep on hiring great people to fill our gaps….We continue to get closer to our full staff goals. Please know every effort is being made to bring our staffing back to is former levels prior to the start of the pandemic in conjunction to the national staffing crisis. Also remember, this is a national staffing crisis….So please be kind and patient to those staff members who show up every day to provide the best care possible to our residents.…

Thank you and have a great day.
