Update from Administrator – March 18, 2022

Hello Friends and Families of Valerie Manor,

We remain with zero covid positivity in our facility for both residents and staff.

Thank you all for your willingness and diligence during the Executive Order requirements to help keep our residents and staff safe. Back in January, the state of Connecticut had required all visitors and essential support personnel of Connecticut nursing homes to provide either proof of their COVID-19 vaccine or show evidence of having a negative COVID-19 test (PCR within 72 hrs. -or- Antigen/rapid within 48 hours). This Executive Order (14F) was implemented due to the surge of COVID-19 cases in our state. As a result of the significant decrease in cases throughout the state and every region in the state, we are pleased to inform you that it has expired. We do ask that you continue to be mindful of our infection control measures that we have been updating throughout this pandemic – and continue to follow them. Masks are still required within the facility, and we encourage proper hand hygiene and adherence to our core principles for infection prevention.

With the weather changing, please take the opportunity to visit your loved one and spend some time outdoors. We are actively working to ensure that we get outside as much as possible, including planning outdoor recreation activities. As we “spring into Spring” we are planning some nice events . We had a St Patrick’s day celebration this week for both residents and Staff, Celebrating National Social Service Month, and we are in preparation for Nursing home week, Nurses week, and CNAs week. Winter Clean up is under way and we are prepping our grounds for some “fun in the Sun for the Month’s to come!”

And finally, Valerie Manor would like to welcome our new unit secretary, 4 new LPNs, 2 new CNAs, 4 new Housekeepers, and one RN supervisor…we still have work to do, but recruitment efforts are starting to bear fruit…

As always, please contact me with any questions. Continue to stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you!
