Update from Administrator – March 31, 2021

March 31, 2021

Good Afternoon Friends & Families of Valerie Manor,

We hope this communication finds you safe and healthy.

Our facility COVID report for this week: We have ZERO (0) positive residents and ZERO (0) positive Staff currently. Our Partners at Griffin Health continue to test staff weekly, and we monitor all residents for signs of covid while we remain in NON-Breakout status.

We are happy to report from DPH that Nursing Homes are plateauing in their Covid infection rates with a very small amount of covid positive cases throughout the state. That being said, unfortunately CT is experiencing an uptick in general public cases with 90% of CT towns in a red zone for Covid Positive Cases. As a reminder, it is important to remain diligent with current DPH recommendations for Social Distancing, wearing your masks in public, Hand Hygiene, and still encouraging all to consider getting vaccinated. As of tomorrow, it is available for all adult age brackets!

In addition Operation Matchmaker with our Partner Griffin Health, we are in process of scheduling vaccines for new admissions and those not currently vaccinated. We will be offered to both staff and residents.

A few reminders: We are open for visitors currently.

  • While outdoor is preferred, indoor visits can be scheduled through our recreation department. We have two lovely visitation areas to use by appointment.
  • DPH guidelines direct us to maintain minimal nursing unit exposure as Covid is up ticking in the community, but if your loved one is fully vaccinated, not on observation/quarantine status, and does not have a roommate present, escorted in-room visits can be arranged.
  • Appointments are recommended because our residents have scheduled therapy, recreation, meals, doctor visits, etc that are essential during the day. To minimize interruption to their care, we strongly recommend setting up visits ahead of time to assure you and your loved ones get the most out of the visit.
  • And of course, compassionate care visits are always available in any unit at any arranged time needed…

In addition, our barber and beauty salon is open for appointments, we continue to have small group activities throughout the day, we have a lovely Themed meal planned this Sunday with special activities.

REMINDER: Our Family call will be held on Thursdays at 2pm.

If you have any questions, please contact a member of management, Tracy the Director of Recreation, Caprice our Director of Nursing or myself at 860.489.1008.

Now go out, stay safe, and enjoy some sunshine! Have a wonderful week.

Craig Dumont, LNHA
