Update From Administrator – September 1, 2020

September 1, 2020

This letter is a follow-up to the recent call made to family members of Valerie Manor residents. After many weeks of being free of COVID-19, I am saddened to report that two residents of Valerie Manor were transferred to a local hospital to meet their care needs and while at the hospital both tested positive. Sadly, one of the residents succumbed to the effects of this insidious virus. Our team cares deeply about our residents and is devastated as we mourn our loss and continue to offer our deepest condolences to their family.

Due to this latest development, we will continue to follow the advice and guidance of Connecticut DPH and Epidemiology, as well as the CDC; testing of all staff and residents continues to take place. As is standard practice, you will be notified immediately if your loved one tests positive via phone, otherwise, we will send another blast email with an overall update to everyone as soon as we have test results available to share.

As the pandemic began in March, our team is well versed in caring for COVID-positive residents, our center has ample PPE, and have communicated regularly with our local health department, as well as the state DPH. We will continue to cohort residents as necessary and follow quarantine guidance.

I will have more updates on our weekly conference call scheduled for Friday September 4, 2020 at 2:00pm. As always, if you have any specific questions on the care of your loved one, please do not hesitate to contact us. Another email you may utilize is Info@ValerieManorHCC.com which is a general email address that is monitored by several department heads, in the event I am unable to respond to you in a timely manner.

We appreciate your continued support during this time.
