Weekly Update from Administrator – June 9, 2020

As always, our team and I hope this email finds you safe and healthy. We remain incredibly grateful for our entire dedicated team and for your ongoing support!

In addition to ongoing virtual and window visits, we have begun offering outdoor visits for our residents and their families. We hope that those families who have participated in these outdoor visits have enjoyed them and we look forward to hosting more. Please remember that the perimeter visits must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff. You can schedule a visit by calling 860-489-1008 or emailing recreation@valeriemanorhcc.com.

As you know from our communications, managing this pandemic has been very challenging but we continue to focus on our residents and their well-being.  We are happy to report that we currently only have 2 positive residents in house. Check our Facebook page to see updated pictures of our recent graduates- It is truly uplifting for our staff and residents.

We continue to have unannounced monitoring visits from the state DPH and members of the National Guard. They have found us to be in compliance during each of our visits and we continue to follow all guidance provided by all regulatory groups.

On Monday June 1st, Governor Lamont ordered nursing home workers to be regularly tested for the coronavirus disease. We just received word that we have been able to secure a contract with a vendor through the state and our testing will begin as soon as June 14th and will take place regularly. The vendor has informed us that they can test up to 30 staff members at time and will have results back to us in 24 hours. I will continue to keep you updated as the plan unfolds and test results become available.

Weekly Call

As a reminder, our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 11th at 2pm (call number: 888-721-8686; Guest Code: 714256*). We encourage any residents and family members to continue to contact me with any questions you have about the care we are providing. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that may arise even beyond the Covid pandemic. A reminder that resident-specific questions cannot be answered during these calls or on our Facebook page so please reach out to us directly if needed.

Thank you and please stay safe and healthy! Although the weather outside is becoming warmer and sunnier each day, it is important to remember that it is still necessary to be cautious and aware that the risks of COVID-19 are still present.
